The Paris Opera and a Classical Concert June 10, 2013

This morning we viewed colorful oil paintings at the Musee Marmottan featuring Claude Monet.

After lunch we took the Metro to the Opera National de Palais Garnier ~ the beautiful Paris Opera.

It was designed with a grand stair case, chandeliers, carved statues, and a hand painted ceiling.

There were also beautiful costumes on display. This immediately reminded us of our friend Sophie.

And these dress making pictures are for Dawn.

We decided to get ice cream and then head toward the department store La Galeries Lafayette. The place was crowded with people.

At 8pm we attended a string concert at La Madeleine . The lively music was performed by four violinists and a cellist. The solo violinist acted as the conductor in between his parts.
