Lemon Poppy-seeds

I had been requested to make a dessert for a church picnic a couple weeks ago. 

Mary had been yearning for a lemon poppy-seed cake, so that was my inspiration.

Tragically, in the middle of my mess I discovered that my baking drawer, holding most of my mixer equipment, was stuck. It would not budge, no matter how hard I yanked! So, since mom and dad were away at a concert, I whipped out my wooden spoon and hand beat my butter. 

But for all my hard work, I under-baked my cake.

So the next morning, my mom baked herself a new one.
